Account and Membership Policy

This Account and Membership Policy explains the rules governing BareAnime member accounts, usernames, public profiles, account security, theory submissions, suspension, termination, and account deletion.

In this policy:

  • “BareAnime,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to BareAnime.
  • “Services” refers to BareAnime.com and related BareAnime-operated account, profile, theory-submission, notification, and community features.
  • “Member,” “you,” and “your” refer to a person who creates or uses a BareAnime account.
  • “Account” means a registered BareAnime membership account.
  • “User Content” means theories, profile information, comments, images, links, and other material submitted through an account.

This policy forms part of BareAnime’s Terms and Conditions and should be read together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, User-Generated Content Agreement, Copyright and DMCA Policy, and Member Communications and Newsletter Policy.

By creating or using an account, you agree to this policy.

1. Free Membership at Launch

BareAnime accounts are free at launch.

A free account may allow members to:

  • Choose a username
  • Create and manage a public profile
  • Upload original anime and manga theories
  • Edit or manage submissions
  • Receive account and theory-related notifications
  • Subscribe to optional new-content notifications
  • Comment or interact with community features
  • Access future features made available to free members

BareAnime does not guarantee that every feature will be available immediately or remain available indefinitely.

2. No Payment Required for Basic Membership

BareAnime does not require payment to create a standard account at launch.

You should not be asked to provide payment-card information merely to register for a free account.

Purchases made through Shop.BareAnime.com are separate from membership and are governed by BareAnime’s shop policies.

Creating a free account does not require you to:

  • Purchase merchandise
  • Subscribe to promotional emails
  • Use affiliate links
  • Pay a membership fee
  • Enroll in a recurring subscription

3. Future Paid Features

BareAnime may introduce optional paid features, subscriptions, premium tools, memberships, creator services, or other paid offerings in the future.

If paid features are introduced:

  • Existing free accounts will not automatically be charged.
  • Payment information will not be collected without notice.
  • Recurring billing will require affirmative enrollment.
  • Pricing and renewal terms will be disclosed before purchase.
  • Cancellation and refund terms will be provided separately.
  • Free and paid features may differ.
  • BareAnime may continue offering a free account tier but does not guarantee that every current feature will remain free.

A member’s use of an optional paid feature will be governed by additional terms presented before purchase.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use BareAnime only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian where required.

You must not create an account if:

  • Applicable law prohibits you from using the Services
  • BareAnime previously permanently banned you and has not authorized your return
  • You are creating the account for fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful purposes

BareAnime may request information reasonably necessary to confirm eligibility.

5. Account Registration

To create an account, you may need to provide:

  • An email address
  • A username
  • A password
  • An age or eligibility confirmation
  • Agreement to BareAnime’s Terms and policies
  • Optional profile information

You agree to provide accurate information and keep it reasonably current.

Do not use:

  • Someone else’s email address without permission
  • False identifying information
  • Temporary information intended to evade enforcement
  • Another person’s name in a misleading manner

BareAnime may require email verification before activating all account features.

6. One Person and Multiple Accounts

BareAnime may permit more than one account per person unless a feature states otherwise.

However, you may not use multiple accounts to:

  • Evade a suspension
  • Evade a block
  • Manipulate votes or reactions
  • Support your own arguments deceptively
  • Harass another member
  • Repost removed content
  • Abuse promotions
  • Submit duplicate theories
  • Circumvent upload limits
  • Impersonate multiple independent people

BareAnime may connect, restrict, or remove accounts reasonably believed to be used for coordinated abuse.

7. Usernames

Members may choose a username, subject to availability and BareAnime’s rules.

A username must not:

  • Impersonate another person
  • Falsely suggest official BareAnime status
  • Falsely suggest affiliation with a creator, publisher, studio, or company
  • Infringe trademark rights
  • Contain private information
  • Contain threats
  • Contain slurs used abusively
  • Promote illegal activity
  • Advertise scams
  • Contain malicious links
  • Create a significant risk of confusion

BareAnime may reject, reclaim, modify, or require a username change when necessary to protect users, rights holders, or the Services.

8. Reserved and Official Usernames

BareAnime may reserve usernames for:

  • BareAnime staff
  • Official support
  • Moderation
  • Site administration
  • Brand protection
  • Public figures
  • Creators
  • Publishers
  • Studios
  • Organizations
  • Future features

A username being available at registration does not guarantee permanent ownership of that username.

Where practical, BareAnime may offer an affected member a reasonable alternative username.

9. Username Changes

BareAnime may allow members to change usernames.

Username changes may be limited to prevent:

  • Impersonation
  • Confusion
  • Harassment
  • Evasion of moderation
  • Broken attribution
  • Fraud

Previous usernames may remain in:

  • Internal moderation records
  • Historical links
  • Search-engine caches
  • Archived notifications
  • Prior screenshots
  • Legal records

Changing a username does not erase prior violations or account history.

10. Public Profiles

A BareAnime account may include a public profile.

Public profile information may include:

  • Username
  • Display name
  • Profile image
  • Biography
  • Published theories
  • Comments
  • Join date
  • Follower or engagement information
  • Other public activity

Public profile information may:

  • Be visible to anyone
  • Appear in search engines
  • Be shared
  • Be screenshotted
  • Be archived
  • Remain in cached copies after deletion

Do not add information you want to keep private.

11. Optional Profile Information

Members should not be required to provide more personal information than reasonably necessary to use the account.

Optional profile fields may include:

  • Display name
  • Biography
  • Favorite anime or manga
  • Social-media links
  • Website link
  • Profile image

Members should avoid publishing:

  • Home addresses
  • Private telephone numbers
  • Government identification
  • Financial information
  • Passwords
  • Precise live locations
  • Private medical information
  • Information about minors
  • Another person’s private data

BareAnime may remove information that creates a privacy or safety risk.

12. Profile Images

Profile images must comply with the Community Guidelines.

Members may not use profile images that:

  • Impersonate another person
  • Contain stolen private photographs
  • Contain pornography
  • Sexualize minors
  • Display child sexual abuse material
  • Contain doxxing information
  • Promote hatred or violence
  • Contain malware
  • Infringe rights in a way that creates substantial legal risk

BareAnime may remove or replace a profile image that violates policy.

13. Public and Private Information

BareAnime will distinguish between public profile information and private account information.

Private account information may include:

  • Email address
  • Password data
  • Security logs
  • Private support communications
  • Nonpublic moderation records
  • Consent records
  • Account settings

BareAnime will handle private information according to the Privacy Policy.

BareAnime will not intentionally display a member’s private email address publicly unless the member clearly chooses to publish it.

14. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

You should:

  • Use a strong and unique password
  • Keep your password confidential
  • Avoid sharing account access
  • Log out of shared devices
  • Keep your email account secure
  • Review unexpected account notifications
  • Contact BareAnime if you suspect unauthorized access

BareAnime may introduce additional security features, such as:

  • Email verification
  • Login alerts
  • Two-factor authentication
  • Session management
  • Password-strength requirements
  • Bot protection

No security system can guarantee complete protection.

15. Unauthorized Access

Contact BareAnime promptly if you believe:

  • Someone accessed your account
  • Your password was compromised
  • Your email address was changed without permission
  • Content was posted through your account without authorization
  • Your profile was altered
  • You received an unexpected password-reset message

BareAnime may temporarily restrict an account while investigating.

We may ask you to verify control of the registered email address or provide other reasonable account information.

16. Responsibility for Account Activity

You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by law.

This includes content submitted by someone you knowingly allowed to use the account.

You are not automatically responsible for activity caused by a verified security breach that was not reasonably within your control.

BareAnime may consider account-security evidence before enforcing penalties.

17. Account Sharing

Accounts are intended for individual use unless BareAnime expressly provides an organizational or shared-account feature.

You may not:

  • Sell your account
  • Rent your account
  • Transfer it without permission
  • Share credentials with unauthorized people
  • Allow another person to impersonate you
  • Use a shared account to hide responsibility for violations

BareAnime may restrict accounts showing suspicious sharing or transfer activity.

18. Account Email Address

Your registered email address may be used for:

  • Verification
  • Password resets
  • Security alerts
  • Theory-submission notices
  • Moderation notices
  • Important policy updates
  • Account-support responses

You are responsible for keeping the email address current.

Changing your email address may require verification of the old address, new address, or both.

BareAnime may restrict certain actions while an email change is pending.

19. Service Communications

By maintaining an account, you agree to receive communications reasonably necessary to operate and secure it.

These may include:

  • Verification emails
  • Password resets
  • Login alerts
  • Submission-status messages
  • Moderation notices
  • Account warnings
  • Policy notices
  • Closure confirmations
  • Support responses

Optional newsletters and promotional emails require separate consent where applicable.

Unsubscribing from promotional emails does not stop necessary account messages.

20. Theory Submissions

A member account may allow you to upload original theories.

Theory submissions are governed by:

  • The User-Generated Content Agreement
  • Community Guidelines
  • Copyright and DMCA Policy
  • Submission instructions
  • BareAnime’s editorial standards

Creating an account does not guarantee:

  • Unlimited submissions
  • Immediate publication
  • Approval
  • Editorial feedback
  • Promotion
  • Payment
  • Permanent hosting

BareAnime may impose reasonable limits on submission volume, file size, frequency, categories, or formatting.

21. Drafts

BareAnime may allow members to save unpublished drafts.

Drafts may be:

  • Visible only to the member and authorized BareAnime personnel
  • Subject to storage limits
  • Automatically deleted after extended inactivity
  • Reviewed when necessary for security, support, abuse prevention, or legal compliance

BareAnime is not a permanent storage provider.

Members should keep their own copies of all drafts and published work.

22. Editing Published Theories

Members may be able to edit published theories directly or submit revision requests.

BareAnime may restrict editing when:

  • A theory is under review
  • A copyright complaint is pending
  • A legal hold applies
  • The edit would remove evidence of abuse
  • The account is restricted
  • The content has been incorporated into a separate agreed project
  • Technical limitations apply

BareAnime may preserve prior versions for moderation, legal, editorial, or correction records.

23. Comments and Community Features

Account holders may be able to comment, reply, react, follow, report, or interact with other members.

These features must not be used for:

  • Harassment
  • Spam
  • Doxxing
  • Impersonation
  • Copyright infringement
  • Ban evasion
  • Engagement manipulation
  • Scams
  • Malware
  • Unlawful activity

BareAnime may remove content or restrict features under the Community Guidelines.

24. Following and Notifications

BareAnime may allow members to follow:

  • Categories
  • Series
  • Theories
  • Creators
  • Topics
  • New BareAnime content

Members may receive notifications through:

  • Email
  • Account dashboard
  • Browser notifications
  • Mobile notifications
  • Other future methods

Optional notification preferences may be changed through account settings where available.

Some essential account and moderation notices cannot be disabled while the account remains active.

25. Blocking and Muting

BareAnime may introduce blocking, muting, or interaction-limiting tools.

A member must not evade another person’s block by:

  • Creating another account
  • Using another member’s account
  • Repeatedly tagging the person
  • Reposting messages through third parties
  • Coordinating off-platform harassment through BareAnime

Blocking does not prevent BareAnime moderators from reviewing relevant activity.

26. Account Status

An account may be:

  • Active
  • Unverified
  • Limited
  • Temporarily restricted
  • Suspended
  • Under review
  • Closed
  • Permanently terminated

Different statuses may affect access to:

  • Login
  • Profile editing
  • Theory uploads
  • Commenting
  • Notifications
  • Existing submissions
  • Appeals
  • Account data

27. Temporary Restrictions

BareAnime may temporarily restrict specific features instead of suspending an entire account.

Restrictions may include:

  • No new theory uploads
  • No image uploads
  • No commenting
  • No links
  • No profile edits
  • No direct messages
  • Reduced posting frequency
  • Mandatory review before publication

Feature restrictions may be used to address repeated or lower-severity violations.

28. Suspension

BareAnime may suspend an account for reasons including:

  • Repeated Community Guidelines violations
  • Harassment
  • Spam
  • Copyright complaints
  • Plagiarism
  • Security concerns
  • Fraud
  • Impersonation
  • Ban evasion
  • Malicious links
  • Engagement manipulation
  • Failure to verify eligibility
  • Legal requirements

Suspension may be temporary or indefinite.

A suspended member may lose access to some or all account features.

29. Immediate Suspension

BareAnime may suspend an account without advance notice when reasonably necessary to address:

  • Credible threats
  • Child exploitation
  • Doxxing
  • Malware
  • Fraud
  • Account compromise
  • Piracy
  • Serious harassment
  • Court orders
  • Immediate security risks
  • Attempts to destroy evidence
  • Other serious or unlawful activity

Advance warning is not guaranteed.

30. Termination

BareAnime may terminate an account when:

  • Violations are severe
  • Violations continue after warnings
  • The account exists primarily for abuse
  • The member is a repeat copyright infringer
  • The member repeatedly plagiarizes
  • The member threatens users
  • The member engages in fraud
  • The member attempts to evade enforcement
  • Continued access creates legal, safety, or security risk
  • Applicable law requires termination

Termination may be permanent.

A terminated member may not create a replacement account without written permission.

31. Notice of Enforcement

Where practical, BareAnime may provide:

  • The reason for a warning, restriction, suspension, or termination
  • The affected content or feature
  • The duration of a temporary restriction
  • Appeal instructions

BareAnime may limit details when disclosure could:

  • Endanger someone
  • Expose security systems
  • Reveal private information
  • Interfere with an investigation
  • Violate law
  • Help a user evade enforcement

32. Appeals

Members may appeal certain account decisions.

An appeal should include:

  • Username
  • Registered email address
  • Date of the decision
  • Decision being challenged
  • Why the member believes it was incorrect
  • Supporting information
  • Requested resolution

Appeals must be submitted in good faith.

BareAnime may reject repeated appeals that provide no new information.

A successful appeal may result in:

  • Restoration
  • Reduced restriction
  • Corrected account status
  • Restoration of content
  • Another appropriate action

Copyright removals may require the formal DMCA counter-notification process rather than an ordinary appeal.

33. Voluntary Account Closure

You may request closure of your account through available settings or by contacting BareAnime.

BareAnime may require:

  • Login confirmation
  • Email verification
  • Password confirmation
  • Another reasonable identity-verification step

This helps prevent unauthorized account deletion.

BareAnime may delay closure when necessary to:

  • Complete an active transaction
  • Investigate fraud
  • Preserve evidence
  • Process a legal request
  • Resolve a copyright matter
  • Address a safety concern

34. What Happens to Your Profile After Closure

After account closure, BareAnime may:

  • Remove the public profile
  • Disable login
  • Delete optional profile information
  • Remove the profile image
  • Anonymize public activity
  • Change attribution to “Former Member”
  • Retain limited records as legally or operationally necessary

Search engines, caches, archives, screenshots, and third-party shares may continue displaying older profile information outside BareAnime’s control.

35. What Happens to Your Theories After Closure

Before or during account closure, BareAnime may provide options concerning published theories.

Depending on your request, BareAnime may:

  • Delete the theory
  • Remove it from public view
  • Anonymize it
  • Disassociate it from your profile
  • Attribute it to “Former Member”
  • Retain it under an existing separate agreement

The treatment of theories is governed by the User-Generated Content Agreement.

BareAnime may retain limited internal copies for:

  • Legal compliance
  • Copyright disputes
  • Moderation records
  • Fraud prevention
  • Security
  • Backups
  • Defense of legal claims

36. Comments After Account Closure

Comments may be:

  • Deleted
  • Anonymized
  • Disassociated from the account
  • Retained as “Former Member”
  • Removed selectively

BareAnime may consider:

  • The member’s request
  • Conversation continuity
  • Privacy rights
  • Legal obligations
  • Moderation history
  • Technical feasibility

BareAnime should not continue publicly displaying private account information after closure.

37. Deleted and Anonymized Content

Deletion and anonymization are different.

Deletion removes content from active systems where reasonably possible.

Anonymization may preserve the content while removing or replacing identifying account information.

BareAnime may use anonymization when:

  • The member requests account closure but does not request removal of theories
  • Preserving a discussion’s continuity is reasonable
  • The content remains useful
  • Legal or technical considerations favor disassociation

Anonymized content should not be intentionally relinked to the former member except where required for internal legal or moderation purposes.

38. Account Data Retention

BareAnime may retain limited account information after closure when reasonably necessary to:

  • Document consent
  • Honor unsubscribe requests
  • Prevent ban evasion
  • Prevent fraud
  • Process copyright claims
  • Maintain security records
  • Complete transactions
  • Comply with tax or legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Defend legal claims

Retention will be governed by the Privacy Policy.

BareAnime should not retain personal information indefinitely without a legitimate reason.

39. Inactive Accounts

BareAnime may classify an account as inactive after an extended period without login or activity.

BareAnime may:

  • Send an inactivity notice
  • Ask the member to confirm continued use
  • Restrict dormant accounts for security
  • Remove abandoned drafts
  • Reclaim certain usernames
  • Close inactive accounts after reasonable notice

BareAnime should not delete published theories solely because an account is inactive without considering the User-Generated Content Agreement and applicable notice.

40. Deceased or Incapacitated Members

BareAnime may establish a process for handling an account belonging to a deceased or incapacitated member.

An authorized representative may be asked to provide reasonable documentation.

Available actions may include:

  • Closing the account
  • Memorializing or preserving selected content
  • Removing private information
  • Disabling login
  • Managing published theories according to applicable rights

BareAnime will not provide passwords or unrestricted account access merely because someone claims a personal relationship.

41. No Account Sale or Transfer

Accounts may not be sold, auctioned, rented, assigned, or transferred without BareAnime’s written permission.

BareAnime may refuse a transfer to protect:

  • Attribution
  • Security
  • Privacy
  • Community trust
  • Moderation records
  • Intellectual-property rights

A username or follower count is not transferable property.

42. No Guarantee of Account Availability

BareAnime does not guarantee that accounts or account features will always be available.

Features may be changed, limited, or discontinued because of:

  • Maintenance
  • Security
  • Legal requirements
  • Technical problems
  • Provider changes
  • Abuse
  • Business decisions
  • Product redesign

Where practical, BareAnime may provide notice before materially discontinuing an account feature.

Members should retain their own copies of all important content.

43. No Guarantee of Data Recovery

BareAnime may use backups but does not guarantee recovery of:

  • Deleted drafts
  • Deleted theories
  • Deleted comments
  • Lost profile information
  • Failed uploads
  • Corrupted files

Members are responsible for maintaining copies of their original work.

44. Account Support

Members may contact BareAnime regarding:

  • Login problems
  • Email verification
  • Username issues
  • Password resets
  • Unauthorized access
  • Account closure
  • Profile problems
  • Submission access
  • Suspension appeals

45. Changes to This Policy

BareAnime may update this policy when:

  • Security procedures change
  • Applicable laws change
  • BareAnime’s business structure changes

The “Last updated” date will identify the current version.

Material changes may be communicated through the Website, account notifications, or email where appropriate.
