Effective date: July 23, 2026
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This User-Generated Content Agreement governs theories, articles, comments, profile information, images, links, and other material submitted to BareAnime by members and other users.
In this Agreement:
- “BareAnime,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to BareAnime.
- “Services” refers to BareAnime.com and any related BareAnime-operated profile, community, submission, notification, or publishing feature.
- “User,” “member,” “you,” and “your” refer to the person submitting content.
- “User Content” means any material you upload, post, submit, transmit, publish, or otherwise provide through the Services.
- “Submission” means User Content submitted for review or publication as a theory, article, profile post, or other featured contribution.
This Agreement forms part of BareAnime’s Terms and Conditions and should be read together with the Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy, Copyright and DMCA Policy, and any instructions displayed on the applicable submission form.
By submitting User Content, you agree to this Agreement.

- Anime theories
- Manga theories

- Comparisons
- Predictions
- Comments
- Replies
- Usernames
- Display names
- Profile biographies
- Profile images
- Theory thumbnails
- Screenshots

- Source references
- Ratings
- Reactions
- Reports
- Messages
- Other material submitted through a BareAnime feature
Different submission types may have additional requirements.
2. Your Ownership
You retain ownership of the original User Content that you create.
Submitting an original theory to BareAnime does not automatically transfer complete copyright ownership to BareAnime.
BareAnime does not claim ownership of your general ideas, personal opinions, or original written expression except to the extent you separately transfer those rights through a clear written agreement.
For example, you may generally:
- Publish your theory elsewhere
- Discuss it in your own video
- Post it on social media
- Expand it into another original work
- Remove it from BareAnime subject to this Agreement
- License it to another person, provided that doing so does not interfere with rights already granted to BareAnime
Your ownership applies only to material that you legally own.
You do not acquire ownership of:
- Anime characters
- Manga characters
- Franchise names
- Official artwork
- Manga panels
- Anime screenshots
- Video clips
- Logos
- Music
- Dialogue
- Storylines
- Other third-party intellectual property
merely because you include or discuss that material in your submission.
3. Nonexclusive License Granted to BareAnime
When you submit User Content, you grant BareAnime a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Host
- Store
- Copy
- Reproduce
- Display
- Publish
- Distribute
- Format
- Reformat
- Resize
- Compress
- Encode
- Transmit
- Make technically accessible
- Create excerpts
- Create previews
- Create thumbnails
- Categorize
- Tag
- Index
- Link to
- Promote
- Archive
- Back up
- Make available through the Services
This license allows BareAnime to operate, administer, improve, secure, and promote the Services and your submission.
The license is nonexclusive, which means you may continue using and publishing your original work elsewhere.
4. Promotional Use
You grant BareAnime permission to promote published User Content through BareAnime-operated channels.
BareAnime may use:
- Your theory title
- Your username
- Your profile image
- A thumbnail
- A reasonable excerpt
- A quotation
- A link to the full submission
- A brief summary
- Relevant images included in the submission, where legally usable
in:
- BareAnime’s homepage
- Category pages
- Search results
- Recommendation sections
- Newsletters
- Email notifications
- Social-media posts
- BareAnime videos
- Video descriptions
- Community highlights
- Promotional graphics
- Internal search and discovery features
BareAnime should not present your original theory as though BareAnime authored it.
Where reasonably practical, promotional use will identify your BareAnime username or the attribution attached to the submission.
5. Use in BareAnime Videos
BareAnime may feature or discuss a published member theory in a BareAnime video.
This may include:
- Summarizing the theory
- Quoting reasonable portions
- Displaying the theory title
- Displaying the member’s username
- Showing excerpts
- Responding to the theory
- Comparing it with another theory
- Adding BareAnime’s analysis, criticism, or commentary
- Linking viewers to the original submission
BareAnime should credit the member when the video is materially based on that member’s original submission.
The member does not automatically become:
- An employee
- A contractor
- A co-owner of the video
- A partner
- A producer
- Entitled to advertising revenue
- Entitled to sponsorship revenue
- Entitled to editorial control
unless BareAnime and the member enter into a separate written agreement.
BareAnime will not ordinarily reproduce a member’s entire theory word for word in a monetized video without separate permission when a summary, excerpt, or commentary would reasonably serve the same purpose.
6. Newsletter and Notification Use
BareAnime may include published User Content in:
- New-content notifications
- Weekly or periodic digests
- Featured-member emails
- Community-roundup emails
- Topic-specific notifications
- Promotional newsletters
Such use may include:
- The theory title
- Username
- Short excerpt
- Thumbnail
- Summary
- Direct link
BareAnime may include affiliate links, advertisements, products, or sponsorships in the same newsletter. This does not give the member ownership of or entitlement to revenue from the newsletter.
7. Editing and Formatting Rights
BareAnime may make limited editorial or technical changes without obtaining separate approval for every change.
These changes may include:
- Correcting obvious spelling errors
- Correcting obvious punctuation errors
- Adjusting paragraph spacing
- Adding headings
- Standardizing capitalization
- Fixing broken links
- Correcting formatting
- Resizing or compressing images
- Adding image descriptions
- Adding spoiler warnings
- Adding content warnings
- Selecting categories or tags
- Adjusting excerpts
- Removing malicious or broken code
- Making the submission readable on mobile devices
- Adding attribution requested by a rights holder
- Removing material that violates policy
BareAnime should not materially change the central theory, argument, conclusion, or intended meaning without the member’s permission, unless the change is necessary to:
- Remove unlawful material
- Remove infringing material
- Correct a serious factual or safety issue
- Protect private information
- Comply with a court order
- Enforce BareAnime’s policies
BareAnime may return a submission to the member and request revisions before publication.
8. Titles, Excerpts, and Thumbnails
BareAnime may suggest or apply reasonable changes to:
- Titles
- Subheadings
- Excerpts
- Meta descriptions
- Categories
- Tags
- Featured images
- Thumbnails
These changes may be made to improve:
- Clarity
- Search visibility
- Accessibility
- Mobile presentation
- Spoiler protection
- Content organization
- Accuracy
BareAnime should not use a misleading title that materially misrepresents the member’s conclusion.
A member may request review of a materially changed title or thumbnail.
9. Attribution
Published theories should ordinarily identify the submitting member through:
- Username
- Display name
- Profile link
- Another attribution selected or approved by the member
You are responsible for ensuring that the name or username you choose does not:
- Impersonate another person
- Violate trademark rights
- Reveal private information
- Falsely imply professional credentials
- Falsely imply official affiliation
BareAnime may remove or change attribution when:
- The account is deleted
- The username violates policy
- The member requests anonymization
- Attribution creates a safety concern
- Legal action requires removal
- The submission is disassociated from the account
10. No Guaranteed Publication
Submitting User Content does not guarantee that BareAnime will:
- Approve it
- Publish it
- Review it by a particular date
- Edit it
- Promote it
- Respond to it
- Keep it published
- Feature it in a newsletter
- Feature it in a video
- Provide feedback
- Pay for it
BareAnime may reject a submission for editorial, quality, legal, technical, moderation, or operational reasons.
Rejection does not necessarily mean the member violated a rule.
11. Editorial Selection
BareAnime may consider factors such as:
- Originality
- Relevance
- Evidence
- Clarity
- Readability
- Organization
- Canon accuracy
- Entertainment value
- Search usefulness
- Copyright risk
- Image rights
- Existing coverage
- Submission volume
- Community safety
- Technical compatibility
BareAnime is not required to publish every viewpoint equally or maintain a neutral balance between all theories.
Editorial selection does not mean BareAnime endorses every published claim.
12. No Automatic Payment
Unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise, User Content is submitted without payment.
You are not automatically entitled to:
- Submission fees
- Royalties
- Advertising revenue
- Affiliate commissions
- Sponsorship revenue
- Video revenue
- Newsletter revenue
- Licensing revenue
- Store revenue
- Donations
- Tips received by BareAnime
- Compensation based on views or engagement
BareAnime may introduce a contributor-payment or revenue-sharing program later.
Any such program will require separate written terms explaining:
- Eligibility
- Payment calculations
- Minimum thresholds
- Taxes
- Fraud rules
- Termination
- Rights granted
- Payment timing
Past unpaid submissions will not automatically become eligible for future payment unless BareAnime expressly says otherwise.
13. No Employment or Partnership
Submitting User Content does not create:
- Employment
- Independent-contractor status
- Agency
- Partnership
- Joint venture
- Fiduciary relationship
- Franchise
- Confidential relationship
You may not represent that you are BareAnime staff, an official BareAnime writer, or an authorized BareAnime representative unless BareAnime has expressly granted that status.
BareAnime may identify a member as a “contributor” or “community theorist” without creating employment.
14. Your Promises About Submitted Content
By submitting User Content, you represent that:
- You created it or have permission to submit it.
- You possess the rights necessary to grant this license.
- It does not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright.
- It does not knowingly infringe trademark rights.
- It does not violate privacy or publicity rights.
- It does not unlawfully disclose confidential information.
- It does not contain stolen material.
- It does not contain malicious software.
- It does not violate applicable law.
- It complies with BareAnime’s Community Guidelines.
- It does not falsely identify another person as the author.
- Any commercial relationship connected to the content is properly disclosed.
- Any factual accusations about identifiable people have a reasonable basis.
These promises apply even when artificial-intelligence tools helped create or edit the submission.
15. Third-Party Anime and Manga Material
A theory may discuss third-party anime and manga material.
However, you should use only the amount reasonably necessary for legitimate commentary, criticism, analysis, identification, or comparison.
Do not upload:
- Complete manga chapters
- Complete episodes
- Long uninterrupted video scenes
- Full soundtrack recordings
- Large galleries replacing the official work
- Unauthorized digital downloads
- Stolen fan art
- Paywalled content
- Pirated links
Providing attribution does not automatically authorize use.
BareAnime may remove or replace third-party material even when the theory text remains published.
16. Fair-Use Claims
You are responsible for the legal basis of third-party material you include.
BareAnime may consider factors such as:
- Whether the material is being analyzed
- Whether new meaning or commentary is added
- How much of the work is used
- Whether the material is necessary
- Whether the use substitutes for the official work
- Whether a less extensive use would serve the same purpose
BareAnime may decide not to host material even when you believe it qualifies as fair use.
Removal does not necessarily mean BareAnime has determined that infringement occurred.
17. Source Attribution
You should identify relevant sources when practical.
Sources may include:
- Manga chapters
- Anime episodes
- Official databooks
- Official novels
- Creator interviews
- Publisher announcements
- Licensed guides
- Another theorist’s work
- Fan translations
- Artwork creators
- Photographers
When responding to another creator’s theory:
- Name the creator
- Link to the original source where appropriate
- Identify which ideas belong to that creator
- Add substantial original analysis
BareAnime may request additional attribution or remove material when attribution is inadequate.
18. Plagiarism
You may not submit material copied from another person and present it as original.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- Copying an article
- Copying a video script
- Translating another theory and claiming authorship
- Using artificial intelligence to disguise copied wording
- Closely reproducing another creator’s unique structure
- Removing credits or watermarks
- Republishing another member’s work
- Copying paid or private material
General theory similarities do not automatically establish plagiarism.
BareAnime may compare:
- Publication dates
- Wording
- Structure
- Evidence order
- Unusual shared mistakes
- Drafts
- Source records
- Prior communications
19. Artificial-Intelligence-Assisted Content
You may use artificial-intelligence tools to assist with:
- Brainstorming
- Outlining
- Grammar
- Editing
- Formatting
- Translation
- Research organization
You remain responsible for the final submission.
AI-assisted content must not:
- Fabricate sources
- Invent quotations
- Invent chapter references
- Copy another creator
- Misrepresent authorship
- Contain unlawfully reproduced material
- Flood the site with repetitive submissions
- Impersonate a real person
- Include private data without authorization
BareAnime may request disclosure when a submission was substantially generated through artificial intelligence.
BareAnime may reject low-quality, misleading, or mass-generated content.
20. Public Nature of Submissions
Published User Content is public.
It may:
- Appear in search engines
- Be shared on social media
- Be quoted
- Be discussed
- Be archived
- Be screenshotted
- Be linked by other websites
- Remain in search caches after deletion
- Be copied by people outside BareAnime’s control
Do not include information you want to keep private.
BareAnime cannot guarantee that all third-party copies will disappear when content is deleted.
21. Personal Information
Do not include:
- Home addresses
- Personal telephone numbers
- Private email addresses
- Government identification numbers
- Financial information
- Passwords
- Precise live locations
- Private medical information
- Another person’s private data
BareAnime may remove personal information without preserving the original wording.
BareAnime may contact you when a submission appears to expose you or someone else to a privacy or safety risk.
22. Submission Review
BareAnime may review submissions:
- Before publication
- After publication
- After a user report
- After a copyright complaint
- After new canon information
- After detecting spam or suspicious activity
- During a policy audit
Review may involve:
- Human moderators
- Automated filters
- Similarity detection
- Spam detection
- Image scanning
- Artificial-intelligence-assisted tools
- Copyright reports
- Community reports
BareAnime does not guarantee that every submission will receive complete legal, factual, or canon review.
23. Member Responsibility
Publication does not transfer responsibility for the submission from you to BareAnime.
You remain responsible for:
- Your claims
- Your sources
- Your rights
- Your conduct
- Your included media
- Your commercial disclosures
- Your compliance with law
BareAnime’s approval does not guarantee that:
- The theory is accurate
- The theory is original
- Every image is lawful
- Every source is correct
- No third party will object
24. Comments and Community Responses
Other members may:
- Disagree with your theory
- Criticize your evidence
- Point out errors
- Publish competing theories
- Quote limited portions
- Link to your submission
- Discuss it in accordance with BareAnime’s policies
You do not have the right to remove criticism merely because it is negative.
BareAnime may remove responses that violate the Community Guidelines, including harassment, threats, plagiarism, spam, or doxxing.
25. Corrections and Updates
You may update or correct your submission through available editing tools or by requesting assistance.
BareAnime may add notices such as:
- Updated
- Correction
- Canon Update
- Editor’s Note
- Spoiler Warning
- Disputed Source
- Removed Image
BareAnime may preserve a record of significant corrections for transparency and moderation.
BareAnime is not required to erase every prior cached or archived version.
26. Withdrawal Before Publication
You may withdraw an unpublished submission by using available controls or contacting BareAnime.
BareAnime will make reasonable efforts not to publish a properly withdrawn submission.
A withdrawal request may not prevent publication when:
- The submission has already been published
- Publication has already been technically completed
- A separate written agreement applies
- BareAnime must retain evidence of a policy violation or legal dispute
27. Deleting Published Content
You may request deletion of published User Content.
BareAnime may respond by:
- Removing it
- Deleting it
- Anonymizing it
- Disassociating it from your profile
- Restricting access
- Retaining a limited internal copy
BareAnime may retain information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law
- Resolve disputes
- Process copyright claims
- Enforce moderation decisions
- Prevent fraud
- Protect security
- Maintain backups
- Document consent
- Defend legal claims
Deletion from active BareAnime pages does not guarantee deletion from:
- Search-engine caches
- Internet archives
- Social-media shares
- Screenshots
- Emails already sent
- Third-party websites
- Temporary backups
28. Effect of Deletion on BareAnime’s License
When your User Content is deleted from active BareAnime systems, BareAnime’s license to publish and promote that content will generally end.
However, the license may continue to the limited extent necessary for:
- Backups
- Legal records
- Moderation records
- Copyright disputes
- Previously sent newsletters
- Previously published social posts
- Previously produced BareAnime videos
- Material already incorporated into a separate work with your permission
- Compliance with law
BareAnime is not required to remove an existing video merely because the linked theory is later deleted, provided the video’s use was authorized under this Agreement when created.
BareAnime should not create new promotional uses of deleted content unless another valid legal basis or separate agreement applies.
29. Account Deletion
Deleting your account does not necessarily delete every theory or comment automatically.
Depending on your request and applicable settings, BareAnime may:
- Delete content
- Anonymize content
- Change attribution to “Former Member”
- Disassociate content from the account
- Retain content where a separate agreement applies
Before completing account deletion, BareAnime should explain the available treatment of published submissions when technically practical.
30. Backups and Archives
User Content may remain temporarily in backups after removal from active pages.
Backup copies:
- Are not intended for ordinary public display
- May be retained for disaster recovery
- May be overwritten according to BareAnime’s retention schedule
- May be restored temporarily during technical recovery
- Remain subject to security and privacy obligations
BareAnime is not required to immediately isolate and delete every individual backup copy where doing so is technically impractical, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
31. Removal by BareAnime
BareAnime may remove or restrict User Content when:
- It violates this Agreement
- It violates the Community Guidelines
- It violates the Terms and Conditions
- It appears unlawful
- It presents a copyright risk
- It contains private information
- It contains malicious links
- It creates a security risk
- It is spam
- It was submitted fraudulently
- It is technically incompatible
- It becomes irrelevant to BareAnime’s services
- A court order requires removal
- Continued publication creates substantial legal or operational risk
BareAnime may act without advance notice when immediate action is reasonably necessary.
32. Copyright Complaints
User Content may be removed or restricted in response to a copyright complaint.
Formal DMCA notices and counter-notifications are governed by BareAnime’s Copyright and DMCA Policy.
BareAnime may share a valid complaint with the affected member.
The member may have the right to submit a counter-notification where the statutory requirements are met.
BareAnime may maintain records and terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
33. Member Reports and Appeals
You may report plagiarism, infringement, impersonation, harassment, or other misuse of your content.
Include:
- Your username
- The original submission
- The reported content
- Relevant links
- Publication dates
- Supporting evidence
- The requested action
BareAnime may provide an appeal process for certain decisions.
An appeal does not guarantee restoration or reversal.
34. Similar Ideas and Independent Development
BareAnime and other members may independently create theories similar to yours.
By submitting a theory, you acknowledge that:
- Similar anime theories may already exist.
- BareAnime may already be researching a similar topic.
- Another member may independently reach the same conclusion.
- General theory ideas are not necessarily exclusive.
- Similarity alone does not prove copying.
BareAnime should not intentionally copy your protected original expression and falsely present it as BareAnime’s own.
35. Unsolicited Private Ideas
Do not send confidential ideas, trade secrets, private business plans, unpublished commercial concepts, or material requiring confidentiality unless BareAnime has signed a written confidentiality agreement.
An ordinary submission does not create:
- Confidentiality
- Exclusivity
- A nondisclosure obligation
- A promise of publication
- A promise of payment
This section does not eliminate BareAnime’s privacy obligations concerning personal information.
36. Commercial Promotions
User Content may not contain:
- Affiliate links
- Referral codes
- Sponsored recommendations
- Paid promotions
- Product advertisements
- Fundraising links
- Store links
unless BareAnime expressly permits them.
When permitted, you must clearly disclose any material relationship.
BareAnime may remove unauthorized commercial material while leaving the rest of a submission intact.
37. Reviews and Testimonials
When BareAnime allows product reviews, service reviews, or testimonials, they must reflect genuine experiences and honest opinions.
Users may not submit:
- Fake reviews
- Purchased reviews
- Reviews written by undisclosed employees
- Reviews generated for people who did not use the product
- Incentivized reviews without disclosure
- Threats to post negative reviews unless compensated
- Multiple deceptive reviews from the same person
BareAnime will not require users to provide only positive reviews.
38. Transfer or Sublicensing
BareAnime may allow service providers to exercise limited portions of the license when necessary to operate the Services.
These providers may include:
- Website hosts
- Content-delivery providers
- Email providers
- Backup providers
- Social-media platforms
- Video platforms
- Moderation providers
- Search providers
- Technical contractors
BareAnime may also transfer this Agreement and the associated license in connection with:
- A merger
- Acquisition
- Restructuring
- Sale of BareAnime
- Transfer of the Services
- Sale of substantially all relevant business assets
A new operator would remain subject to the license terms and applicable law.
39. Moral Rights and Attribution Rights
To the extent permitted by law, you agree that BareAnime may make the formatting, promotional, excerpting, and technical uses authorized by this Agreement without obtaining separate approval each time.
You do not waive the right to be accurately identified as the author where such a right cannot legally be waived.
BareAnime will not intentionally attribute your work to another member.
40. Termination of Submission Access
BareAnime may restrict your ability to submit, edit, upload images, comment, or maintain a profile when:
- You repeatedly violate policy
- You submit infringing material
- You plagiarize
- You evade moderation
- You threaten users
- You submit spam
- You manipulate engagement
- You create security risks
Restriction of submission privileges does not automatically transfer ownership of your previously submitted content.
41. No Storage Guarantee
BareAnime is not a permanent storage service.
You should retain your own copy of every theory, article, image, and source.
BareAnime does not guarantee that User Content will never be:
- Lost
- Corrupted
- Removed
- Reformatted
- Archived
- Made temporarily unavailable
BareAnime may attempt to restore content from backups but does not guarantee recovery.
42. Changes to This Agreement
BareAnime may update this Agreement when:
- New submission types are introduced
- Video or newsletter features change
- Contributor-payment programs are added
- Moderation systems change
- Account features change
- Applicable laws change
- BareAnime’s business structure changes
Material changes affecting previously granted rights may require additional notice or consent where required by law.
The “Last updated” date will identify the current version.
43. Governing Documents
If this Agreement conflicts with another BareAnime document:
- A separate signed contributor agreement controls for that specific contribution.
- The Copyright and DMCA Policy controls formal DMCA procedures.
- The Privacy Policy controls personal-information practices.
- The Community Guidelines control ordinary community conduct.
- The Terms and Conditions control broader use of the Services.
