This Age and Children’s Privacy Policy explains BareAnime’s minimum-age requirements and how BareAnime handles accounts, submissions, communications, and personal information involving minors.

In this policy:

  • “BareAnime,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to BareAnime.
  • “Services” refers to BareAnime.com and related BareAnime-operated account, profile, theory-submission, notification, store, newsletter, and community features.
  • “User,” “member,” “you,” and “your” refer to a person who accesses or uses the Services.
  • “Child” generally means a person under 13 for purposes of the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
  • “Minor” means a person who has not reached the age of legal adulthood where that person lives.

1. Minimum Age

You must be at least 13 years old to:

  • Create a BareAnime account
  • Choose a username
  • Build a public profile
  • Upload an anime or manga theory
  • Submit comments or other User Content
  • Subscribe to optional BareAnime newsletters
  • Participate in community features
  • Provide personal information directly through the Services

Children under 13 may not create or use a BareAnime account.

BareAnime does not knowingly permit children under 13 to submit personal information, maintain profiles, publish theories, or participate in community features.

2. General-Audience Service

BareAnime is intended for a general audience of anime and manga fans aged 13 and older.

BareAnime is not designed or directed primarily toward children under 13.

The availability of content relating to anime, manga, animation, games, fictional characters, or merchandise does not mean the Services are intended for young children.

BareAnime’s intended audience includes teenagers and adults interested in:

  • Anime and manga analysis
  • Fan theories
  • Canon discussions
  • Long-form articles
  • Community submissions
  • Reviews
  • Videos
  • Merchandise
  • Other entertainment commentary

3. Registration Age Confirmation

The BareAnime registration form may require a user to confirm that the user is at least 13 years old.

BareAnime may use:

  • A date-of-birth field
  • An age confirmation
  • An eligibility checkbox
  • Email verification
  • Other reasonable age-assurance measures

Users must provide truthful information.

A person under 13 may not bypass the age requirement by:

  • Entering a false birth date
  • Selecting a false age confirmation
  • Using another person’s account
  • Asking another person to register on the child’s behalf
  • Creating a replacement account after removal

4. Recommended Age-Screening Method

BareAnime may ask for a complete date of birth or may use an age-screen that determines only whether the person is at least 13.

When practical, BareAnime may avoid storing a complete birth date and instead retain only:

  • Confirmation that the user meets the minimum age
  • The date of the confirmation
  • A limited eligibility record

BareAnime may retain age-related records where reasonably necessary to:

  • Document compliance
  • Prevent repeated underage registration
  • Protect account security
  • Respond to legal requests
  • Resolve disputes

Age-related information will be handled according to the Privacy Policy.

5. Users Between 13 and Legal Adulthood

Users aged 13 through the age of legal adulthood where they live may use BareAnime subject to this policy.

These users should involve a parent or guardian where required by applicable law.

A parent or guardian should help a minor understand:

  • Which profile information becomes public
  • The risks of publishing personal information
  • Copyright and plagiarism rules
  • Community conduct requirements
  • Affiliate links and advertisements
  • Purchases
  • Email notifications
  • Account security
  • Content-deletion limitations

BareAnime may require parental involvement for particular features, purchases, contests, or jurisdictions even when the user is at least 13.

6. Public Profiles Belonging to Minors

Members may have public profiles.

A minor should not publish:

  • A home address
  • A private telephone number
  • A personal email address
  • A school name
  • A class schedule
  • A workplace schedule
  • A precise live location
  • Daily travel routines
  • Financial information
  • Government identification
  • Passwords
  • Private medical information
  • Information identifying younger siblings or other minors
  • Any information that could create a safety risk

BareAnime may remove profile information that appears to expose a minor to privacy, exploitation, harassment, or physical-safety risks.

7. Usernames and Display Names

A minor is encouraged to use a username that does not reveal:

  • Full legal name
  • Birth year
  • School
  • Home city
  • Street
  • Telephone number
  • Other identifying details

BareAnime may require modification of a username that exposes personal information or creates a meaningful safety risk.

A username must also comply with BareAnime’s Account and Membership Policy and Community Guidelines.

8. Profile Images

Minors should avoid using photographs that reveal:

  • School uniforms
  • Home addresses
  • Street signs
  • Vehicle license plates
  • Location metadata
  • Private family information
  • Other identifying details

BareAnime may remove an image that creates a privacy, exploitation, impersonation, or child-safety concern.

Members may not post images of another minor without appropriate authorization.

9. Theory Submissions by Minors

Eligible members aged 13 or older may submit theories subject to BareAnime’s publishing rules.

A submission by a minor must not contain:

  • Private identifying information
  • Contact information
  • School information
  • Precise location details
  • Confidential family information
  • Private messages published without authorization
  • Unlawful or exploitative content
  • Material copied from another creator
  • Copyrighted material used without a lawful basis

BareAnime may edit, anonymize, restrict, or remove personal information from a submission to protect the member.

10. Communications with Minor Members

BareAnime may send eligible minor members necessary communications concerning:

  • Account verification
  • Password resets
  • Security
  • Theory submissions
  • Moderation
  • Copyright complaints
  • Policy changes
  • Support requests
  • Other requested account services

Optional newsletters and promotional communications require separate consent where applicable.

BareAnime staff and moderators should communicate through official BareAnime channels whenever practical.

BareAnime personnel should not request unnecessary private contact with a minor through personal social-media accounts, private telephone numbers, or unrelated platforms.

11. Direct Messaging

If BareAnime introduces direct messaging, additional safety controls may apply to minor accounts.

These controls may include:

  • Message restrictions
  • Blocking
  • Reporting
  • Spam filtering
  • Limits on messages from unknown adults
  • Automated safety detection
  • Moderator access after a report
  • Disabling direct messages by default for certain age groups

Members may not use messaging features to:

  • Groom or sexually exploit a minor
  • Request sexual images
  • Request private contact information from a minor
  • Pressure a minor to move to a private platform
  • Arrange unsafe meetings
  • Harass or threaten a minor
  • Share illegal material
  • Encourage secrecy from parents or guardians

BareAnime may immediately suspend accounts associated with such behavior.

12. Sexual Content Involving Minors

Content that sexually exploits, depicts, solicits, promotes, or facilitates abuse of minors is strictly prohibited.

This includes:

  • Child sexual abuse material
  • Sexualized photographs of real minors
  • Grooming
  • Sexual solicitation
  • Requests for sexual images from minors
  • Sharing or requesting exploitative content
  • Sexual threats involving minors
  • Attempts to arrange sexual contact with minors

BareAnime may:

  • Remove the content immediately
  • Suspend or terminate accounts
  • Preserve relevant records
  • Restrict access
  • Report suspected illegal activity
  • Cooperate with lawful investigations

Do not download, copy, forward, or repost suspected illegal material in order to report it. Report the page, account, or message location instead.

13. Fictional Characters Depicted as Minors

BareAnime may restrict sexualized content involving fictional characters depicted or identified as minors even where the applicable legal treatment may vary.

BareAnime may remove such material when it:

  • Is explicit
  • Is exploitative
  • Creates a child-safety concern
  • Violates payment, hosting, advertising, or platform requirements
  • Is inconsistent with BareAnime’s intended community

BareAnime may apply standards stricter than the minimum required by law.

14. Adult Contact with Minors

Adults may participate in ordinary public fandom discussions with eligible teenage members.

Adults may not:

  • Seek sexual or romantic contact with minors through BareAnime
  • Request private images
  • Pressure minors to reveal personal information
  • Encourage minors to conceal conversations
  • Manipulate minors into private communications
  • Arrange unsafe in-person meetings
  • Exploit differences in age, authority, popularity, or status
  • Offer money or gifts in exchange for private or sexual content

BareAnime may restrict conduct that appears predatory even when no explicit sexual statement has yet been made.

15. Meetings and Off-Platform Contact

BareAnime does not organize or supervise personal meetings between members unless expressly identified as an official BareAnime event.

Minors should not meet online contacts in person without the knowledge and involvement of a parent or guardian.

BareAnime is not responsible for unauthorized private meetings arranged between users.

Users may be suspended for using BareAnime to facilitate exploitation, trafficking, violence, or other unlawful conduct.

16. Purchases by Minors

A BareAnime account may be free, but products may be sold through Shop.BareAnime.com.

A minor may make a purchase only with the involvement and authorization of a parent, guardian, or other legally authorized payment-account holder where required.

BareAnime may cancel or refund a transaction when:

  • The payment was unauthorized
  • Fraud is suspected
  • The account holder disputes permission
  • Legal requirements apply
  • Necessary verification cannot be completed

A minor may not use another person’s payment information without permission.

17. Affiliate Links and Advertising

BareAnime may display affiliate links, advertisements, sponsored content, and product recommendations.

Minor users should understand that:

  • BareAnime may earn money from qualifying purchases
  • Advertisements may be supplied by third parties
  • A recommendation does not guarantee product suitability
  • Purchases should be reviewed with a parent or guardian where appropriate

BareAnime will not knowingly use personal information from a child under 13 for targeted advertising.

BareAnime may limit personalized advertising for known minor users where required by applicable law or platform rules.

18. Analytics and Cookies

BareAnime may use cookies, analytics, security tools, and similar technologies as explained in its Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

If BareAnime learns that an account belongs to a child under 13, BareAnime will take reasonable steps to stop unnecessary collection and remove the account and associated personal information, subject to legal, security, and recordkeeping needs.

BareAnime does not intend to use age information to create advertising profiles about children.

19. Information BareAnime May Treat as Personal Information

Depending on applicable law and context, personal information involving a child may include:

  • Username connected to identity
  • Email address

  • Home address
  • Date of birth
  • Photograph
  • Video
  • Audio recording
  • Precise geolocation
  • Persistent online identifier
  • Device or cookie identifier
  • Profile information
  • Content revealing identifying information
  • Other information that permits contact with or identification of the child

BareAnime will not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 except as legally permitted and necessary to address the situation.

20. Actual Knowledge of an Underage User

BareAnime may have actual knowledge that a user is under 13 when, for example:

  • The user states the user’s age
  • A parent contacts BareAnime
  • A support message reveals the age
  • A report contains reliable evidence
  • A date-of-birth field shows an age below 13
  • Account content clearly and credibly identifies the user as under 13
  • BareAnime receives another reliable notice

BareAnime is not required to accept every unsupported accusation that a member is underage.

BareAnime may investigate and request reasonable verification.

21. What Happens When BareAnime Learns a User Is Under 13

When BareAnime reasonably determines that an account belongs to a child under 13, BareAnime may:

  • Suspend the account
  • Prevent further login
  • Remove the public profile
  • Restrict theory submissions
  • Remove comments and uploads
  • Stop optional emails
  • Delete personal information
  • Preserve limited compliance or security records
  • Contact a parent where appropriate and legally permitted
  • Take other steps required by law

BareAnime will not knowingly allow the child to continue using account or community features simply because a parent informally says it is acceptable.

If BareAnime later chooses to offer an under-13 service with verifiable parental consent, that service will require a separate compliance system and policy.

22. Parental Requests

A parent or legal guardian who believes a child under 13 provided information to BareAnime may request that BareAnime:

  • Identify whether BareAnime holds information associated with the child
  • Stop further collection
  • Delete the account
  • Delete personal information
  • Remove public content
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Explain how the information was used
  • Explain which providers received it

BareAnime may require reasonable verification of:

  • The parent’s identity
  • The parent’s relationship to the child
  • The relevant account
  • The child’s identity
  • Authority to act for the child

BareAnime will avoid requesting unnecessary sensitive documentation.

23. Parental Requests for Teenage Users

A parent may contact BareAnime about an eligible member aged 13 or older.

However, teenagers may have their own privacy rights depending on their location.

BareAnime will consider:

  • The member’s age
  • Applicable law
  • Account ownership
  • Safety concerns
  • The nature of the request
  • Whether the parent has legal authority
  • The member’s privacy interests

BareAnime will not automatically provide a parent with complete access to every private communication or account record without considering applicable law and safety.

24. Verification of Parental Authority

BareAnime may use reasonable methods to verify a parental request, such as:

  • Confirmation through the child’s registered email
  • Limited account information
  • A signed statement
  • Reasonable documentation of guardianship
  • Another legally acceptable verification method

Any verification information will be used only as reasonably necessary and retained according to the Privacy Policy.

BareAnime may deny a request when the requester cannot reasonably demonstrate authority.

25. Deletion of Underage Information

When deletion is appropriate, BareAnime may remove information from active systems.

Information may remain temporarily in:

  • Backups
  • Fraud-prevention records
  • Security logs
  • Legal records
  • Copyright records
  • Records documenting compliance

BareAnime will not use retained compliance records for unrelated advertising or promotional purposes.

Backups will be overwritten or deleted according to applicable retention practices unless law requires longer preservation.

26. Data Minimization

BareAnime will seek to collect only information reasonably necessary to provide its Services.

BareAnime should not require a member to disclose:

  • Full legal name
  • Home address
  • Telephone number
  • School
  • Precise location
  • Government identification

merely to create a basic free account, unless a particular legally permitted feature genuinely requires that information.

Profile fields should be optional unless reasonably necessary.

27. Data Retention

Information relating to minors should not be retained longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Relevant retention purposes may include:

  • Operating an active account
  • Publishing requested User Content
  • Protecting account security
  • Processing a purchase
  • Handling moderation
  • Responding to legal requests
  • Preventing fraud
  • Documenting consent
  • Resolving disputes

BareAnime may anonymize information when continued retention of identifiable data is unnecessary.

28. Security

BareAnime will use reasonable measures designed to protect account and personal information.

  • Security monitoring

No system is completely secure.

Members and parents should report suspected account compromise promptly.

BareAnime may use service providers for:

  • Spam prevention

  • Store payments
  • Product fulfillment
  • File storage

BareAnime will require or expect providers to handle information according to applicable privacy and security obligations.

BareAnime should avoid knowingly sending information about children under 13 to advertising or analytics providers.

30. Social Media and External Links

BareAnime may link to social-media platforms, video services, stores, and other external websites.

Those services have their own minimum-age rules and privacy practices.

BareAnime does not control information a user provides directly to an outside service.

Minors should review outside services with a parent or guardian where appropriate.

31. Newsletter Subscriptions

Users must be at least 13 to subscribe directly to BareAnime’s optional newsletter.

A person creating an account is not automatically enrolled in optional promotional emails.

Newsletter signup fields should not request unnecessary age-related or identifying information.

If BareAnime learns that a newsletter subscriber is under 13, BareAnime may remove the address and associated subscriber records, except for a limited suppression or compliance record.

32. Contests, Giveaways, and Promotions

BareAnime may establish specific age rules for contests, giveaways, surveys, or promotions.

Additional rules may require:

  • A higher minimum age
  • Parental permission
  • Geographic eligibility
  • Identity or mailing verification for winners
  • Separate official rules

BareAnime should not collect a minor’s home address merely to enter a promotion when that information is not yet necessary.

33. Community Reports Involving Minors

Reports involving a minor will receive heightened consideration when they concern:

  • Grooming
  • Sexual solicitation
  • Doxxing
  • Threats
  • Extortion
  • Blackmail
  • Trafficking
  • Self-harm encouragement
  • Requests for private images
  • Attempts to arrange a meeting
  • Adult impersonation
  • Exploitative commercial activity

BareAnime may preserve records and take immediate action without notifying the reported user in advance.

34. False Age Reports

Do not knowingly submit a false report that another member is underage.

BareAnime may restrict users who use age or child-safety reporting tools to:

  • Harass others
  • Expose private information
  • Remove competing theories
  • Retaliate after an argument
  • Manipulate moderation

Good-faith reports will not be penalized merely because BareAnime cannot verify them.

35. School and Educational Use

BareAnime is not currently an educational technology service operated on behalf of schools.

A teacher, school, or educational organization should not create student accounts or require students to submit personal information to BareAnime without:

  • Reviewing BareAnime’s policies
  • Confirming legal authority
  • Obtaining any necessary consent
  • Contacting BareAnime where a formal arrangement is needed

BareAnime does not accept school consent as a substitute for parental consent unless applicable law permits it and BareAnime has agreed to the arrangement.

36. International Age Requirements

Privacy and account-consent rules may differ outside the United States.

BareAnime may:

  • Apply a higher minimum age in certain regions
  • Require parental authorization
  • Restrict features
  • Change advertising settings
  • Request additional confirmation
  • Decline account registration

where required by applicable law.

The general BareAnime minimum remains 13 unless a higher age applies where the user lives.

37. No Under-13 Parental-Consent Program at Launch

BareAnime does not operate a parental-consent program for children under 13 at launch.

Therefore, a parent cannot currently authorize a child under 13 to:

  • Create an account
  • Build a profile
  • Upload theories
  • Comment
  • Subscribe directly
  • Participate in community features

BareAnime may reconsider this in the future only after implementing appropriate legal, technical, privacy, security, and parental-control systems.

38. Changes to This Policy

BareAnime may update this policy when:

  • Account features change
  • New age-assurance tools are introduced
  • Community functions expand
  • Advertising practices change
  • Applicable laws change
  • BareAnime introduces parental controls
  • BareAnime introduces services specifically intended for younger users

The “Last updated” date will identify the current version.
